NEW! Search Engine Keywords URL Tracker
I‘m a big fan a AWSTATS - the famous website statistics software that gives fairly the clearest information on your visitor rates and who enters fro where, but this software has few very bad drawbacks that I don‘t really like and thus I‘ve made my mind to make SEO Website CMS able to track Search Engine Visitor Information.
Yesterday we started working (and today we finished it) on Search Engine Keyword Tracker (SEKT) module for the SEO Website CMS. This module writes a history log of all keyword activity for each URL (currently only Google, Yahoo, MSN/LIVE and AOL but those are about enough). We‘ve always wondered (if you don‘t observe carefully the RAW Apache Logs or have URCHIN/ANALYTICS Account) what are they keywords that each page ranks for and what are people looking/finding when they come....
Our project consisted of three parts - KEYWORD HIGHLIGHTER - it highlights the search text that the people used on SERPS with yellow background. Numerous Internet marketers claim that doing this highlighting people tend to stay longer as the usual period that each visitor spends is about few seconds and they must be able to see what they were looking for on that page or they leave. That‘s why I‘ve made that tool so that we can experiment and try to keep out visitors longer.
The Second part of the project was the SEKT recorder - we record all the keywords for each page and each visit is counted with hit counter. Therefore we are able to track how many times specific keyword was used to enter one page. Personally I think this is a great tool!
The third part is the SEKT Analyzer where you can see the actual positions for each page/keyword on search engines. We currently track the first 300 results on Google, Yahoo and MSN/LIVE. This information will help Search Engine Optimization people to track carefully their rankings and know what to optimize for! This is another great tool that I haven‘t seen on other Content Management Systems.
The bad part it is that again we will postpone the release of the Beta Testing Version due to the need to test-drive this new tool for a bit longer and make sure the Control Panel works perfectly. Currently the SEKT is cleaning up its own history but we will make it able to clear the visitor information on monthly/quarterly periods. This will again be done similar to the Bot-Trap Module where you can choose the period that you wish to clear.
That‘s it for now. We will post news as soon as we get something new done!
Cheers
Venetsian
